Samantha Steele's initial court date in her DUI arrest is Friday, December 27th
Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Samantha Steele's initial court appearance for her DUI arrest is scheduled for Friday, December 27, at the Daley Center in Chicago, Illinois. The hearing is set for 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 408. Steele was arrested on November 10 in Chicago, and the arrest has garnered international attention due to its outrageous and controversial nature. She initially attempted to flee the scene of the DUI car crash, where she struck two parked cars on Ashland Avenue. She then refused to provide her driver’s license to Chicago police and declined to exit her vehicle, threatening the officers by twice stating that she was an "elected official." During the incident, she called Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton, who arrived to act as her attorney at the scene of the DUI car crash. Police officers discovered a half-empty, open bottle of wine in her vehicle. During her arrest, she allegedly insulted a Chicago police officer, repeatedly stating, "Is your penis that small," according to a police report. The Chicago Sun-Times has since called for her resignation. Steele has refused to comment on her arrest.
